Recently we were asked to participate in the AMA (American Marketing Association) two-day Data and Dashboards workshop taking place in Atlanta starting at 8AM tomorrow (June 1). The workshop provides mid- to senior-level marketing manager with the knowledge to put data at the center of your marketing strategies.
The workshop presents a review of dashboard resources, use cases, and participant collaboration to provide actionable learning. They contacted dashboard vendors that offer best in the industry products and will provide reviews of them. We are very pleased to announce that Klipfolio Dashboard was one of the few chosen to be included.
Chances are you are familiar with Klipfolio Dashboard already and are aware of the platform design that allows you to pull data from multiple sources. For marketing this is very valuable as you can have something like Google Analytics klips to show website traffic and keyword data on the same dashboard as Salesforce.com showing the number of leads that have come in from various marketing campaigns, and a host of others, such as Omniture, Webtrends, and Eloqua BI data on your desktop at all times.
Led by James Clark (Twitter: @jamesoclark ), co-founder of Room 214 and Ben Castelli (Twitter: @bencastelli ) agency director of Room 214, a leading social media agency and developers of customer marketing dashboards, this intensive two-day seminar will dive into the how to gather, filter, curate and visualize the data that matters most for assessing ROI.
If you are in the Atlanta area it sounds like an interesting workshop to check out.
As one of the reports four sponsors, Kilpfolio is proud to announce that Dashboard Insight and Wise Analytics will offer a comprehensive review of the current data visualization (DV) market - the first research report of its kind. Available in early September, this complete assessment of the data visualization industry takes a critical look at many key areas of the DV landscape. Some of the goals include helping businesses and organizations understand:
In addition to dashboards, the report also looks at charting, analytical offerings, SaaS/On-demand vendors, business performance management tools and more. Overall, 26 vendors participated in the report, including Dundas Data Visualization, IBM, InetSoft, Information Builders, Klipfolio, PivotLink, Tableau Software, Visual Mining, QlikView, among others.
One of our biggest challenges at Klipfolio is conveying to people just how exciting, powerful and effective a desktop dashboard can be for companies monitoring operational metrics.
No matter how many ways we describe the nuts and bolts, or proclaim its benefits, there's just no substitute for seeing Klipfolio Dashboard in action. It's invariably the catalyst for the Aha! experience that we've seen time and again when someone finally "gets" the deceptively simple Klipfolio concept.
So, we're developing a series of short, informative, right to the point and, obviously, highly visual videos to showcase Klipfolio Dashboard in ways that no words can. We hope you'll try out the Klipfolio videos. And we'd love it if you'd tell us what you think of them.
Competition being what it is in today's tight marketplace, organizations depend more than ever on salesforce automation systems to help drive top-line growth. By improving the visibility of key data, these applications drive higher sales and help build and maintain profitable customer relationships.
Of course, the key word here is "visibility." The effectiveness of any sales automation solution can be measured by the degree to which it provides sales managers, reps, and customer relationship specialists with the information they need to know what is happening with the sales process in real time.
The fact that desktop dashboards are all about data visibility and real-time information makes them a natural and essential part of any sales automation process. So it should come as no surprise that, at Klipfolio, we set out to develop a desktop dashboard to leverage the capabilities of the world's leading automated salesforce solution – Salesforce CRM, from salesforce.com.
By converting critical, fast-changing, often hidden data in Salesforce CRM into real-time information on the desktops of sales personnel of all stripes, Klipfolio Dashboard for Salesforce CRM takes the extra step needed to make the most of a Salesforce CRM investment. It's yet another example of how a modest investment in desktop dashboarding can leverage a very significant commitment to an underlying information system.
Take a look and if you too would like get KPIs from Salesforce CRM on the desktop, let us know.
Over the past two and a half months, we asked Klipfolio visitors and customers how they access and share their most important business information. Is it formally, using best of breed BI and KM tools? Or informally, around the water cooler? We also ran polls about personal and corporate preferences when choosing a smart phone.
Well, the results are in. And some might surprise you!
Welcome to Klipfolio Inc. Over the years people like you have given us invaluable feedback on our products, market-positioning and branding. After some serious soul searching, market research, and endless meetings, we've bowed to the equity, recognition and momentum associated with the Klipfolio brand. Based on your feedback, we've retired the Serence brand and given the Klipfolio brand a makeover that exudes confidence while remaining clean, simple and professional.
This move consolidates our two core lines of business under the Klipfolio banner as Klipfolio Dashboard and Klipfolio Branded Desktop Applications. The consumer version of Klipfolio, and its vibrant community, continue as Klipfolio Personal Dashboard. This active and growing user community continues to be a great source of ideas and inspiration for us - thanks.
We're really looking forward to moving into 2009 as Klipfolio, Inc. and I'm eager to hear from you on how the new look feel comes across. Read more about this announcement in today's press release.
Cheers
Allan
Secondly, the editors at Dashboard Insight also took a shine to the article and published it too. The first has bigger screen shots and the second has a stronger conclusion to the article.
If that weren't enough, this week KlipFolio has been covered by two blogs as well. The download squad came back to analyze KlipFolio and provided some heart-warming commentary as well as welcome suggestions. That post triggered another at startupmeme with the colorful title, "klipfolio Beats The Crap Out Of Windows Sidebar!!". We might have put it a little bit differently but the sentiment is nice.Brian

A rolling stone gathers no moss and our KlipFolio for Google Analytics dashboard is certified 100% moss free. To keep pace with changes to Google Analytics from the Googleplex, we've been tinkering with the logic behind your desktop dashboard. Update your KlipFolio for Google Analytics dashboard here.
Another reason to download the upgrade is the mild cosmetic surgery to which KlipFolio for Google Analytics has been subjected. Font smoothing and other minor tweaks don't just make your GA KPIs easier to read, they also give you the most fashionable web analytics dashboard at the cube farm.
To see what we mean, compare this look and feel to your current KlipFolio for Google Analytics dashboard.

Ok, the dashboard didn't say that in so many words. However, our continuing plan to tackle application-specific niches means we need some more help. KlipFolio for SugarCRM and KlipFolio for Google Analytics are two examples and there are more to come. If you can name a wildly popular web-based sales force automation tool, we can build a desktop dashboard for it.
In this case, help takes the forms of Ed and Wendy who've joined our sales team, and we're thrilled to have them on -board. One of them will be following up with you when you ask for more info about our desktop dashboard for Google Analytics. For that matter, they'll be following up with you on KlipFolio Enterprise and other topics as well should you be interested.
Part of the reason we need Ed and Wendy's help is that we've released a couple of cool new offers in support of KlipFolio for Google Analytics. First off, Allan put together a 2 minute video of a desktop Google Analtyics dashboard in action. Give it a try if you want to hear the soothing tones of Allan's voice emerging from your tinny computer speakers.
Secondly, under the category of "show me don't tell me", we put together some Google Analytics dashboard screen shots to help tell the KlipFolio for Google Analytics story.
Together these have helped to generate a fair bit of buzz and Ed and Wendy are busy talking to folks like you about Google Analtyics, SugarCRM, and branded desktop applications. We keep a steady stream of coffee flowing to their desks so don't be surprised if they sound a little hyper on the phone. It's not just their excitement over enterprise dashboards!

In case you missed it on our new home page, let me be the first to tell you...
KLIPFOLIO ENTERPRISE for GOOGLE ANALYTICS is now AVAILABLE!
If you're a metrics junkie like me, you'll want to download the free trial ASAP. I've been excited about this new use of my desktop dashboard since I tried the beta version. In short, I don't need to log in to Google Analtyics and dig for the stats I want anymore. Now they come to me on my desktop. This sounds like a small change but I dare you to give it a try and not fall in love.
Having the KPIs in front of me all day is awesome. I can see my top keywords, whether my goals are trending up or down, how much traffic I'm getting and where it's coming from.....all right on my desktop.
How cool is that? I 've tried it as a sidebar and a bottom bar and right now I'm liking the bottom bar best. You can see all the details on our new KlipFolio for Google Analytics product page.
You only need to weather one call storm to understand why enterprise help desk teams often develop a siege mentality. While all these service desk pros are supporting regular users, who supports them?
A couple years back the KlipFolio team decided that we do. And as it happened, quite a few of our enterprise dashboard customers now come from the help desk department. Interestingly, while they also use KlipFolio enterprise as a dashboard for their own metrics, what they really want is a fast and effective way of alerting employees to systems changes. It's a really good way of avoiding the call storms that make life difficult for the help desk team.
Allan shared this message with the Help Desk Institute at its annual conference on May 15. The response was unanimously positive. But the high turn out at the conference left us wondering, if all the Help Desk staff were at the conference....who was answering the phones? Please contact your system administrator.
After the exposure his last article on the 3 rules of dashboarding got before Christmas, some media types were eager for more punditry from our leader.
Rather than leave them hanging, Allan came through with some new thinking on why every enterprise wants KPI reporting on the desktop. The Dashboard Spy is the first media outlet to pick up the story. It's called “Drive Adoption and Performance from the Desktop: Innate awareness of performance hinges on unavoidable KPI reporting."
There's a lot of $5 words in that title but give it a read and share your 2 cents on whether or not Allan got it right.
Your inbox or our nifty new enterprise dashboard web pages may have tipped you off already. But if not, version 5 of KlipFolio Enterprise is now in general release.
This release comes with a dashboard full of new features requested by enterprise customers. See the features at work in this 2 minute video: What’s new in KlipFolio Enterprise 5
You personal dashboard fans are in for a treat too. We’re putting the finishing touches on the next version of the consumer version of KlipFolio as well. For more information, check out Jeremy's new feature posts on the KlipFolio forum.
Allan

As we end another action packed year for Serence, we'd like to send big shout-outs to each and every one of you. 2008 already has some announcements right around the corner, and as always we're looking to tackle a massive wish-list of goodies for KlipFolio. So keep an eye on your inbox.
Happy holidays and all the best to our KlipFolio users and customers!
From the entire team at Serence.
We've updated the support section of KlipFolio.com with a brand new help system. Check it out.
Rather than update the reference manual style of the previous user guide, we've moved to more of an FAQ structure. Questions are now based around tasks, and these tasks are logically organized into groups. Each answer includes links to related questions and answers, too.
In addition, we've beefed up the search interface to make it easier to find the answers you're looking for.
Got comments? Couldn't find what you were looking for? Let us know.
If you've ever wondered about the future of dashboards and desktops, we've got an article for you to read. And the gang over at Dashboard Insight, a new portal all about dashboards, seems to agree. After a number of conversations around the office about how human decision-makers are the final constraint on successful dashboard deployments, Allan had to write it all down.
We liked the sound of it so much we shared them with Dashboard Insight and they made it their feature article. Give it a quick read and let us know what you think. He even suggests a few rules of thumb that all point towards desktop dashboards over other implementations. The acquisition frenzy in the business intelligence market over the last few months supports some of what he has to say. Is he crazy or is he on to something?
It turns out desktop dashboard dreams do come true. After participating in the first ever Widgets Live show in San Francisco last year (thank you Niall Kennedy , Om Malik), it is now an annual event and Serence is headed back to Shaky Town for Widget Summit on October 15-16, ‘07.
We're so excited, we can barely keep our APIs straight, because we can geek out with all the other desktop widget vendors, share our latest news about KlipFolio dashboard for SugarCRM with the widget press, and hopefully enjoy more fantastic sushi.
This year our own Fred Dixon is part of the widgets in the enterprise panel where we can talk performance management, bi dashboards, and key performance indicators with our peers and some startup called Google . Areas like executive dashboards and employee alerts are increasingly hot topics that we hope to discuss with other industry insiders.
From last year we remember rows of frothing media people blogging their hearts out at the show. If you’re one of them, or you’re just headed to the show for fun, drop Fred a line with our handy contact form. Maybe you can share some gyoza or spider crab afterwards.
Regards,
Brian

phpBBHacks.com has recognized KlipFolio's Forum as their Featured phpBB implementation for the month of September 2007. According to their web site the featured phpBBs are "the standard in which phpBBs should be measured by. The pride of phpBB." We're honoured to receive the recognition, and would like to thank phpBBHacks for the award. We'd also like to thank all of our users who participate in the discussions on the KlipFolio Forum and help to make it a great resource for KlipFolio users.
If you haven't checked out our forum, have a look at it, then register and participate. Whether you have questions about Klip development, feature requests for future versions of KlipFolio, or need help troubleshooting an issue with KlipFolio, its an essential resource for KlipFolio users. The forum is also the first place we announce new versions of KlipFolio, so keep your eyes pealed - you may see an announcement there sooner than you think...
Join us in Philladelphia at the InfoCommerce07 conference later this month as we talk to B2B publishers regarding desktop widgets, BDAs and Rich Internet Apps. Consumers have been quick to adopt desktop widgets such as Google Desktop, Yahoo Widgets and Serence's KlipFolio for tracking weather, stocks, comics and a thousand other uses. Online retailers like Staples weren’t far behind and have proven that B2C firms can transform these miniature applications into increased customer loyality. Fred Dixon will share Serence's experiences on how these applications apply to B2B applications.
The KlipFolio Dashboard for SugarCRM is ready. As per Fred's note on April 23rd, we're big fans of SugarCRM and now we've added what we think is the missing piece of the puzzle - top notch desktop notification and alerting. You can learn more about it and download it for yourself on our new product page .
In short, this new application lets you keep your most important SugarCRM information on your desktop 24/7 without logging in or switching applications. And because it's built using Klips, as your priorities change you can swap different CRM data in and out of your desktop dashboard. We like to think that instead of adjusting your behavior to suit your data, now your data adjusts to match your behavior.
Take a look, give it a try, and let us know what you think - we're slaves to your feedback.

A few days ago AllAccess went live with AllAccess Desktop, a desktop alert application to notify its members of updates to music charts. AllAccess Desktop was built using KlipFolio and the KlipFolio Bunder.
You'll need an account from AllAccess (it's free) to download the application. You'll also find they created a number of videos showing how to setup and configure the application.
We think this is a really cool example of what can be done with KlipFolio. And the best part is that AllAccess did it all for free! Of course, they could do an even better branded version with KlipFolio Branded, but this example shows it is possible to go pretty far with KlipFolio and KlipFolio Bundler.
Web User, the UK's best selling internet magazine, has awarded KlipFolio gold in the Personal Dashboard category. KlipFolio beat out Yahoo! Widgets, Google Desktop, Microsoft Windows Vista Sidebar, Opera and Samurize to take the crown. Bam!
Not only that, but in their review they gave KlipFolio a full 5 stars for every rating group (features, number of widgets, ease of use, and appearance) resulting in an overall score of 5 stars. Sweet!
Now we have to find a hard copy of the issue somewhere in Ottawa...
Thanks to Ralph Dunstable for the FYI!
We'll be attending the SugarCRM developer conference in two weeks, San Jose, May 3-5. If you want to meet us, look for the guys with KlipFolio shirts. Feel free to approach us and say 'hi' and let us know your thoughts on KlipFolio.
Why are we attending? We use SugarCRM internally and it rocks. But it's missing a good desktop notification/alerting. Look for a new set of SugarCRM Klips from Serence to bring this great Web application to the desktop.
Although it seems to us like we just got back from the east coast (WidgetsLive! and Fast Forward '07), we already have plans to head out again. Not that we're complaining ... if it's warmer than Ottawa, it's a welcome break.
This time, we're heading down to the Web 2.0 Expo in San Francisco, April 15th to 18th. With many well thought out sessions and a slew of interesting companies attending, it looks like CMP and O'Reilly will be putting on a good event.
So make sure to let us know if you'll be there. It's always great to hook up with other KlipFolio users.

We're pleased to announce that KlipFolio 4, now with Mini-Sidebars, is here. If you've been following the beta development, reading this blog or helping us out in the forum, you've already seen what version 4 has in store. If not, today will be like christmas.

There are many new features, however the ones that will stand out most are KlipFolio's sidebar, topbar and bottombar layout capabilities. You can even have multiple combinations, including the traditional "floating" mode. Side, top and bottom bars can be set to reserve space, sit on top of windows or even auto-hide. Myself, I have a sidebar on the right edge of my desktop that is always visible and contains data that I want to keep an eye on throughout the day, and I've placed a number of other Klips inside of a topbar that I have auto-hidden. It's very cool.
By now you're thinking, hey, that means that KlipFolio now supports groups of Klips. You're right, you can very easily arrange Klips into groups using KlipFolio 4. Each group has its own toolbar, which can be used to move your group around.
Also new is Liquid Klips, a physics-based positioning system that will make arranging your Klips much quicker and easier. Now Klips will simply move out of the way and reposition themselves to help you find a perfect layout.
Then there are new types of Klips; System Monitoring Klips that can access CPU, Memory, Wi-Fi, and Battery status; Frame Klips that can display webcams and images in a fully resizable region; and brand new Search Klips that will be new even to our beta testers. Check out all the new Built for 4 Klips.![]()
Download it, take some time to try out all of the new features and ways of interacting with your Klips. Add some new Klips and share it with your friends (using the new "Send to Friend" feature).
We're now just days away from our official KlipFolio 4 launch. The beta program is now closed, and we wanted to send out a special thanks to all of the beta testers. It was great again to see so many familiar "faces" participating. Your help has saved us time and increased the quality of KlipFolio.
OK ... 3 days left until launch. Check back on Tuesday!
Friday evening, we uploaded KlipFolio 4 Beta C!
This is the last beta release before we launch KlipFolio 4. Although we are now focusing primarily on stability and performance, we did find the time to add the ability to "lock" auto-hidden sidebars (double-click on the sidebar to lock it, and then again to unlock it). Please take it for a spin and let us know what you think.
Take a look at the release notes for all of the details.
If you are a Klip author, you likely got an e-mail from us yesterday. And if you'd like, you'll get an email next month also, and every month thereafter. It contains summarized statistics of all your live Klips for the previous month. Why are we doing this? Well, we hope that the information will be of use to Klip authors who may not have the time to keep a close eye on their Klip’s performance. We also wanted to bring attention to the some of the stats that authors have access to that they might not know about.
One of the lesser known features that we rolled out with the new version of KlipFolio.com last year is the enhanced usage statistics that are now available to all users (previously you had to pay to get access to them). These stats show you:
By default your Klips won’t be reporting these statistics. To enable them, all you need to do is add
report
true
/report
setup
Now, if you'd rather not receive monthly stats via e-mail, you can change your subscription settings by logging in to your KlipFolio.com account and clicking on "Modify Account". There you'll find options to unsubscribe from all of KlipFolio.com's newsletters.
We're pleased to let you know that Beta B of KlipFolio 4 is available for download!
Our focus for Beta B was to address your feedback from Beta A. In particular, this resulted in new ways to manage sidebar and strip visibility; auto-hide, reserved space, always on top and--of course--normal window layering. We've also added auto-saved layouts, so that KlipFolio will now remember the last sidebar or floating layout you used while moving sidebars and strips around.
Check out this short video that shows off the new layout capabilities:
As always, there is so much more in terms of fixes and improvements that you're best off just going ahead and downloading it.
Just in time for the holidays, CNET's Peter Butler picked up KlipFolio 4 Beta, and shares his thought on why he likes where it's headed.
"Klipfolio takes a minimalist and highly functional approach to managing and presenting the information that you want, with individual “Klips” that can be dynamically resized and are easily personalizable.
...most of the coolest features are on the back-end, enabling developers to do more with their creations. Among the new additions, Klips can now present maximized images, which has already resulted in the deadly time killer, Flickr Explore."
Read the entire story, and let Peter know what you think.
We're thrilled to announce that the first public beta of KlipFolio 4 is available for download! This is the most significant update to KlipFolio since version 0.8 was released (almost exactly) 5 years ago.
What's new in KlipFolio 4? For starters, you can now put your Klips into a sidebar. But it's not like other sidebars. With KlipFolio you can make your sidebar really, really small and still pack lots of Klips into it. And you can move it to the top of your screen and create a Klip Strip. If you want to, you can have a bunch of strips and a bunch of sidebars onscreen at the same time---great for über displays and multi-monitor setups.
KlipFolio 4 also gives you more control over how you organize and arrange your Klips. Klips can now be put into groups, and these groups can be moved independently of other Klips. Also, when you move Klips around or resize them, other Klips get out of the way. We call it Liquid Klips, and it's pretty cool.
There's so much more that's new in 4 that you're best off just going ahead and downloading it. Make sure you add some of the cool 4.0-only Klips, like the new system monitors, slideshow Klips and webcams.

Take a look at this video walkthrough
to see how it works.

At the Widgets Live! show we used a background for our presentation that lots of people really seemed to like. So we thought we'd turn it into a desktop background and post it here.
There are two; one with the KlipFolio logo and "Personal Dashboard", and one with "Everything you know, I knew yesterday" and the logo. Take your pick!

All of a sudden, it's YouTube madness. Check out this YouTube Video from KAI3.TV featuring KlipFolio. It's in German, but we know there are a bunch of you who will understand it.
Thanks to Touchdown for suggesting it to KAI3.TV!

Today we're announcing a new project: KlipFolio for Symbian smartphones.
With this new version of KlipFolio you'll be able to take your Klips with you, wherever you go.
What's really neat about this project is that it leverages both the small size and device-independent nature of Klips. Our plan has always been to keep Klips small and device-independent. KlipFolio on the desktop provides Klips with the best UIs for the desktop context. KlipFolio for Symbian gives Klips the best UIs for a smartphone.
What this means is that developers don't have to worry about the UI. And, most importantly, users get the best interface regardless of what environment they are running.

From day one (in 2001!), we envisioned Klips running on a wide array of devices, from desktops and PDAs to mobile phones, TVs and even voice systems. They're your services, and you should be able to use them with whatever device you have handy. We're now realizing the vision. The hard work in keeping things small, lightweight and device-independent is starting to pay off, and every Klip developer, KlipFolio Branded customer and KlipFolio user will benefit.
KlipFolio for Symbian will use the exact same Klips that run in KlipFolio on the desktop: over 4000 Klips available for you to choose from to take on the road.
Look for an announcement this winter about the availability of KlipFolio for Symbian.
PS. If you see Allan or James at the Widgets Live! show, ask them for a demo and see KlipFolio running on a Symbian smartphone for yourself!
OK ... so it's more like James Scott and I traveling in a tin can with wings at high-speeds to San Francisco.
Our destination is the WidgetsLive converence, a very cool event being put on by Niall Kennedy and Om Malik. For one day, this event will get web-widget guys, mobile-widget guys and desktop-widget guys all in one room. The event is being held on Monday Nov 6th, the day before the Web2Con show.
We're excited about this event because it aligns very well with us talking about KlipFolio 4.0 (and some other goodies we've got up our sleeves). We've been asked to participate in the lightning round to showcase KlipFolio. James and I will get a post up as soon as we can after the show (perhaps even a video if we can find someone to capture the moment).
So, if you're in San Francisco, or coming into town for the event, let us know. James and I would be thrilled to meet up with you. Drop us a line.

OK folks, we need your votes. CNET is asking users what their favourite tiny app is. They are looking for programs that are less than 1MB, quick to install and provide great value---sounds like KlipFolio to me!
So help us out... we need you to tell them about KlipFolio. Click on 'Submit your Post' at the bottom of the page (you need to register with CNET if you have not already).
Let's get voting!
KlipFolio 4.0 development has been under way for weeks now. We thought it was time to let you all in on some of what's coming. It's going to be a great release!
Our 4.0 focus is on what people have been asking for. Richer data in Klips. Easier Klip movement and arranging. More tools for developers. Massively improved Klip visibilty. System monitoring. And of course we've added some snazzy eye-candy.
Here's a screenshot of an internal build of KlipFolio:
There's so much more to it than you see here. We'll keep posting more previews over the coming weeks as we get closer to the first public release.
This will be the one.
What's nice about web-based development is that it's a relatively short design/build/release cycle. It allows for continuous improvements, and this week is no exception.
In case you missed the announcement in the forum, we've improved KlipFolio.com searching. You can now easily specify whether you wish to look for Klips or look for textual content, such as in our development guide, support section, or any other place for that matter on the site. Behind the scenes we've also spent a little bit of time making sure that search terms such as "lang file" jump you to the proper location as efficiently as possible. Let us know if there are searches that don't pull up the expected results.
As a bonus for Firefox users, we've released a Firefox search plug-in to make it easy to search for Klips right from your browser. It's located on all search results pages on KlipFolio.com, on the right-hand side.
Also, as with most other sections at KlipFolio.com, if you are a developer reading our Developer Guide (which makes for excellent bedtime reading ;-), we've added the ability to comment on each page. So, if you find errors, have questions or thoughts, please share them with us and the rest of the community. As a note, expect a significant overhaul of the developer section very soon (it's needed some TLC for a long time).
Just some Klip announcements to finish things up. We released a YouTube Klip , a To Do List Klip and today an update to the New Klips Klip which now has the language filter back.
OK ... more cool stuff next week (a few crazy tech demo Klips coming your way).
Version 3.1 is out the door . It's a great release - fast, stable and still under 1MB!
We've focused on performance and stability for this one. Based on the early feedback we're getting, it's paying off. But there's more to it than that---we've nailed a handful of small things, like finally hooking up the zoom-rate for Klips or fixing a bunch of bugs related to tooltips not appearing on top of Klips, that we think will really make a big difference for users.
Check out the release notes for more details. Or just go ahead and download KlipFolio 3.1!
Enjoy
We've released a beta of the next KlipFolio point release, 3.1. It's available for download on the forum.
This build has background image downloading (for faster, smoother tooltips), multiple preferences files (for faster I/O and better error resistance) and a handful of other improvements.
James Woodcock, who runs a popular blog and pod-casting site is hosting a pod-cast interview with me in two weeks time - July 20th. Take a look at his post here for his spin on it. As you can tell, James is a KlipFolio fan also.
What is great about James' interviews is that he opens it up to the community. So, if you have questions, thoughts or want to know a bit more about our vision and plans, it's easy to do. You can skype, call, or post questions anytime from now until July 20th!

Although I'm not sure PC World got the description of KlipFolio quite right, they do consider us one of their 3 favourite "widget" apps. Here is what they said:
Widgets Break Out of the BrowserThe technologies that power the New Web are being applied outside your browser, too. Widgets are lightweight applications that sometimes run inside a browser and other times operate as separate programs. They can monitor the weather, measure battery life, reformat Web pages and search results, or do just about anything else that someone figures out how to accomplish in a scripting language. Here are three of our favorite widgets:
