Take a look at this video walkthrough
to see how it works.

At the Widgets Live! show we used a background for our presentation that lots of people really seemed to like. So we thought we'd turn it into a desktop background and post it here.
There are two; one with the KlipFolio logo and "Personal Dashboard", and one with "Everything you know, I knew yesterday" and the logo. Take your pick!

Let's say I have an enterprise application out of which I want to pull some data for display in a widget. Obviously, that data is going to be secured, so two things need to happen: first, my widget canvas needs to support secure data access, and second, I need to trust my widget engine to access my enterprise applications on my behalf.
Desktop-based widget engines like KlipFolio and Skinkers are already used for delivering sensitive data. They support encrypted, password-protected data retrieval, and they store encrypted credentials on the user's machine.
While other widget platforms have focused on offering increasingly GUI-rich interfaces, KlipFolio has concentrated on keeping things small, consistent, and secure. We're not about running Yet another Clock Widget (YACW) on your desktop; rather, it focuses on providing a very small, efficient dashboard to save you time and effort.
We target our product for the every-day users, but we've built it secure enough for deployment both internally and externally by corporations to access sensitive data, such as our recent use of KlipFolio Branded for American Express.
We're glad that Richard and Charlie are pointing out that security of the platform is important for business uses of a widget.
All of a sudden, it's YouTube madness. Check out this YouTube Video from KAI3.TV featuring KlipFolio. It's in German, but we know there are a bunch of you who will understand it.
Thanks to Touchdown for suggesting it to KAI3.TV!

Hi Folks ... as mentioned last week, we promised to upload a video sharing with you some of the things we are working on with KlipFolio 4. Here it is ...
Enjoy ... good things are coming!
Well, James and I got home yesterday morning (after being stranded in Washington overnight) from the first and hopefully annual Widgets Live! show in San Francisco. It was great. Weather, food, and other techies!
Some of the highlights included hearing Arlo Rose speak about the inspiration and vision behind Konfabulator (now the Yahoo Widget Engine). Arlo humbled the crowd by pointing out the old Mac OS Control Strip, which about 10 years ago was putting little widgets on the desktop (which kinda look like Klips - small, simple and efficient).
We also enjoyed hearing about what the other desktop engines were up to. Pretty much all the same direction from Microsoft, Yahoo! and Google as far as their widgets, panels and gadgets go ... graphically rich mini-applications that (for now) are desktop-only. Having said that though, it seems all of the big players are looking at making their current desktop solutions extend to additional platforms (ie: browser, mobile, tv -- yes, Yahoo! is technically Mac and PC).
It was cool also to see what Nokia (Widsets) and Opera were working on as they both presented their mobile projects. Synchronization was strangely not really touched upon by these two presenters, something we think will be pretty important as users move between their desktop and mobile devices.
And then yes, we got to reveal our goods to the crowd--announcing KlipFolio 4, as small as ever and now with the tiniest sidebar around, and the first phase of our move into mobile, showcasing a synchronized prototype of KlipFolio running on a Nokia smartphone running Symbian.
James and I also had a great time heading out to the bar with everyone after the event (at the Cliff) and then for an incredible Sushi dinner (at Blowfish Sushi).
Can't wait until next time!
Today we're announcing a new project: KlipFolio for Symbian smartphones.
With this new version of KlipFolio you'll be able to take your Klips with you, wherever you go.
What's really neat about this project is that it leverages both the small size and device-independent nature of Klips. Our plan has always been to keep Klips small and device-independent. KlipFolio on the desktop provides Klips with the best UIs for the desktop context. KlipFolio for Symbian gives Klips the best UIs for a smartphone.
What this means is that developers don't have to worry about the UI. And, most importantly, users get the best interface regardless of what environment they are running.

From day one (in 2001!), we envisioned Klips running on a wide array of devices, from desktops and PDAs to mobile phones, TVs and even voice systems. They're your services, and you should be able to use them with whatever device you have handy. We're now realizing the vision. The hard work in keeping things small, lightweight and device-independent is starting to pay off, and every Klip developer, KlipFolio Branded customer and KlipFolio user will benefit.
KlipFolio for Symbian will use the exact same Klips that run in KlipFolio on the desktop: over 4000 Klips available for you to choose from to take on the road.
Look for an announcement this winter about the availability of KlipFolio for Symbian.
PS. If you see Allan or James at the Widgets Live! show, ask them for a demo and see KlipFolio running on a Symbian smartphone for yourself!
We've got another KlipFolio 4 preview for you! Here's the brand new KlipFolio 4 sidebar. Now you'll be able to keep an eye on your Klips at all times and leave plenty of screen real estate to get stuff done.
In the tradition of all things KlipFolio, this sidebar can be resized to be really, really small, with your Klips remaining visible and usable. So there won't be a need to minimize anything, restore anything or bring anything up just to stay informed; it'll all be right there, using up just the tiniest amount of screen real estate, keeping you connected.

More previews and sneak peeks throughout the day!
You can use the link below to easily add KlipFolio to the list of RSS readers in Firefox 2. We got the idea from a blog post at NetVibes.
To get started:
Click here to add KlipFolio as the default RSS Reader for FireFox 2
When you click the above, you'll get a dialog box:

Click 'Yes' and now KlipFolio appears in the list of applications to read a feed.

When you subscribe to a feed in KlipFolio, KlipFolio automatically loads the URL into the Feed Viewer.

Just press the "Add Feed" button and you're all set to monitor the feed on your desktop using a Klip. Firefox 2 rocks!
