We asked Klipfolio.com visitors and customers how they access and share business information. Do they use formal BI tools, portals, and dashboard applications? Or do they use Excel, email, and other informal methods? And how satisfied are they? Here is what we found:

As you can see, the formal/informal split was pretty even, at 47% and 53%.
Surprisingly, well over half of the BI users reported using custom or in-house web-based applications – primarily for analysis of KPIs (27%) and notification of operational data (24%).
Dissatisfaction levels with current methods are clearly high – 40% for formal BI users, and a whopping 83% for informal users.
Reasons BI users are dissatisfied include a gap between how often they monitor data and how often they believe they should. Just under 50% reported monitoring "a few times a week," while 56% said they should be monitoring "often throughout the week."
Interestingly, 74% of the respondents said they are investigating ways to improve access to business metrics.
The results of this survey show personal vs. corporate preferences when choosing a smart phone in each of these global zones: (1) the Americas; (2) Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA); and (3) Asia Pacific.
It's no big surprise that, globally, Blackberry and Windows Mobile dominate the corporate landscape, now outpacing even Symbian-powered devices in EMEA. In the Americas, Blackberry has a massive market-share in both the corporate and personal spaces.
But iPhone is increasing in popularity in the consumer space, and is easily the current choice among consumers globally.
We believe the current personal/corporate gap for the iPhone will put pressure on IT departments to support the iPhone, or even adopt it as their corporate choice.
The question is, which devices are moving up, and which down? Blackberry is fighting to retain it's lead, iPhone is the current consumer darling, and Windows Mobile is revving its version this year.
