The past month has been very exciting. First, we were contacted by Google to be highlighted in their new Google Analytics Applications Gallery. While Google does not endorse applications that integrate with their offering, it is a privilege to have them recognize the unique capabilities of Klipfolio Dashboard.
Second, an article titled "Necessities of OLAP Visualization" was posted on the Dashboard Insights website. OLAP queries are quick and can house a tremendous amount of data – a combination that encourages BI adoption throughout the enterprise. With the power in more hands, it is vital to ensure that the data is visualized in a way that makes sense to reduce the chance of poor decisions based on a misunderstanding.
Finally, our own CEO, Allan Wille, will take part in a DM Radio discussion titled "The Last Mile: Data Visualization in a Mashed-Up World" on May 20th. You will be able to listen to the MP3 here.
Klipfolio Dashboard was honored to be highlighted in the newly launched Google Analytics Applications Gallery under the Business Intelligence category. From the website: "This gallery contains applications that extend Google Analytics in new and exciting ways. They are solutions that help analysts, marketers, IT teams, and executives get more out of Google Analytics." Check out the site, and add a comment about Klipfolio Dashboard with a rating!

Necessities
of OLAP Visualization (Featured in Dashboard
Insight): The addition of OLAP methods, with the ability to perform multi-dimensional queries and an interface that is easy to use without extensive IT knowledge, has proliferated BI throughout the enterprise and decentralized decision making power. But with the power in the hands of more individuals, it is more important than ever to ensure that data is visualized and understood; contextually, timely, and above all, profoundly simple. One of the great advantages of Klipfolio Dashboard is that it is data source agnostic. In the same platform, you can have one Klip updating website traffic levels from Omniture, another showing your leads from Salesforce, and another tracking bug status of a project the team is working on.
Here are two new How-To articles about displaying content from common data sources. The first, Parsing data: HTML, XHTML, provides an example of extracting data from a table. The second, Parsing data: XML, RSS, ATOM, RDF, walks you through how to create a static sample XML feed.
Last month we asked for some help with two surveys and we are happy to share the results with you. First we looked at SMS interest – in particular willingness of the user's employer to pay a small per-message fee to receive SMS alerts from Klipfolio Dashboard on their mobile phones. There was a pretty even split (42% of respondents saying "Yes"). While this is not an overwhelming acknowledgement, neither is it an overwhelming disavowal. Read more of our insights in our SMS Survey Results blog post.
The second survey looked at SaaS. Not surprisingly, 57% of respondents are currently using SaaS in some form, and almost all respondents plan to adopt more in the future. Over the past few years SaaS has been growing in popularity as a way to let people use software without having a "CD hardcopy". In many cases SaaS makes sense, and it follows along with the responses of the top reasons for why companies use the services. Who uses SaaS, and why? Survey Results goes into more detail about the survey findings, and our interpretation of the results.
