Tracking spreadsheets across folders and manually updating dashboards wastes time. Connect your files directly to Klipfolio Klips and your dashboards update as your data does.

How to connect your files to Klipfolio

Klipfolio supports Excel, CSV, JSON, and XML file formats up to 10MB. Follow these steps to create a data source from an uploaded file:

  1. Click Data Sources in the left navigation bar. If you don't see this option, click your Account Name at the bottom of the sidebar, then select Data Sources.
  2. Click Create a New Data Source and select File Upload.
  3. Click Choose File and select your file.
  4. Click Get data and confirm the data looks correct.
  5. Optionally, select Model your data to shape the data before use. Learn more about modelling data sources.
  6. Click Continue, then name your data source, set a refresh schedule, and optionally share it with your team.
  7. Click Save.

Your data source is now available in your Data Source Library and ready to power custom Klips.

Top reasons to use Klipfolio for file-based dashboards

  • Centralize data from any file format. Pull Excel, CSV, JSON, or XML files into one dashboard so your team sees the same numbers without hunting through folders.

  • Build dashboards without writing code. Use Excel-like formulas and drag-and-drop layouts to shape and display your data exactly how you need it.

  • Keep dashboards current when your files change. Re-upload an updated file to instantly refresh your connected Klips, no manual rebuilding required.

  • Share insights across your team. Distribute dashboards via TV mode, public links, scheduled PDF emails, or embedded views, all from one place.

  5. Click Get data, confirm the data looks correct, then click Done.

Use the Connector Gallery to create a custom Files dashboard

With our Connector Gallery, you can create custom API queries to pull in data from your Files account. Building custom queries allows you to specify the metrics and time periods that you want to track.

You can use custom queries to build out visualizations in Klipfolio. You can also combine your Files data with other relevant data to create your custom dashboard.

Learn more about working with the Files API and how you can start building your own Files queries in Klipfolio.
